Studies on the Development of Leadership Competencies through Training Activities

A well-planned and better structured training activity aims to provide participants with real-time knowledge of the limitations and external factors that affect job performance, effectively equipping them with leadership skills, namely self-awareness, building others, building and sustaining relationships that are beneficial for the growth of leadership. A total of 265 responses from 4 manufacturing industry organisations were obtained. All respondents were in managerial roles from the junior to middle level. The study findings indicate that trainees were substantially more likely to have leadership skills with sufficient pre- and post-training activities. The theory may be that when the situation needs them for leadership advancement, the trainees are more likely to apply the acquired knowledge or skills. For effective leadership development, the practical and research implications of these findings are discussed.
