Rising Dampness and Salt Contamination Problems in Building

Rising moisture and salt pollution can have a significant impact on the service life of a variety of building structures, both old and modern. Rising moisture and salt crystallisation are two different but related phenomena. If the damage is to be reduced and repair procedures are to be successful, both damages must be comprehended. However, because the term rising damp has been used to cover both characteristics, it tends to miss the impact of salt, as well as difficulties that will become increasingly important as buildings age and soils become more saline. As a result, the focus of this article will be on the history and knowledge of salt crystallisation and rising damp issues. The discussion will also cover the symptoms, causes, and consequences of these impairments.
