Nanocomposite Coatings: Properties and Applications in Machining

Nanocomposite coatings have caught the interest of a wide variety of researchers. They form a dense grain structure because of spinodal decomposition. Even at high temperatures up to 1200 ° C, this increases their wear and oxidation resistance. Promising candidates for machining many “difficult-to-cut” materials are the nanocomposite coated cutting tools. We address the design principles of nano structured coatings in the present report. In machining “difficult-to-cut” products, we also study their practical application.
