With systemic deuterium depletion, a 59-year-old patient with an 18-year history of type II diabetes demonstrated significant improvements in glucose tolerance tests and improved fasting hepatic glucose production. Systemic changes in insulin and hepatic glucose production in the pancreas and liver are most likely due to deuterium, which is known to impair the efficacy of ATP synthesis nanomotors. Low-carbohydrate (keto) diets combined with deuterium-depleted water can result in deuterium depletion throughout the body.
